Kraus will be stepping down as the face of the Stevens-Swan Humane Society where he had held the post of Public Relations and Development Director. Kraus, also known as “The Doctor” for his 30+ years of local radio experience, holds a Master’s Degree in Administration from Syracuse University.

Jerry Kraus has a life-long relationship with The Stanley and the arts community. Growing up locally, he was a regular at concerts and performances at the theater. He has been a board member of The Stanley for the past four years and a member of The Broadway Theatre League of Utica for the past seven years. Kraus said, “It’s bittersweet to leave the Stevens-Swan Humane Society after five years of real success. I have enjoyed my time there, working with a dedicated staff and, of course, helping the animals. But the opportunity to lead The Stanley, a great historical treasure and our local center for arts and entertainment, was something I just couldn’t pass up.”

On his plans for continuing the theater’s success, Kraus believes in reaching out. “I will be hosting an open forum to get our community’s input on what events they’d like to see and support. I’d really like to see The Stanley become our entire community’s theater, with something for everyone. I’m looking forward to continuing our strong relationships with local groups like the Broadway Theater League of Utica and Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute.” said Kraus.

The Stanley has been without an Executive Director throughout the past year. Mr. Shatraw believes the time has been well spent, “our search committee looked at many candidates. It’s fitting that the person most suited for the position is someone who will be a true local ambassador not just an administrator.”
